More on 09-01-2009 Gmail Outage
Sep 2nd
posted a follow up to the Gmail Outage Tuesday mentioning that the outage was 100 minutes long, and noted the root cause of the outage

Even the big guys go down sometimes, it just so happens Google suffered this outage during one of the prime times of the week, just as the east coast was getting off of work – which ironically was part of the reason for the overload in the first place.
Gmail “Ouchage” – Gmail Down for Hours
Sep 1st
I just read about the Gmail Outage (7:50pm EST) and was glad to see I could log back in again. The update in the Gmail blog post notes that the issue was fixed at 2:37pm, and I experienced it at about that time at the end of my workday here on the east coast.
Glad to see its fixed and I can get into my Gmail now, and hopefully everyone else can, too. Pretty cool of them to make a “hey we were down and we’re sorry” post.
