Gmail Spam Filter, New Controls, and Multiple Inboxes
Gmail fixed a spam filter problem back on Jan 31 and I didn’t even notice. Well I don’t think I did, but I did have to take 2 emails to out of my spam filter recently which is a little unusual… who knows. Oh an I happy with the new “Move To” option – now I can truly use my labels like folders if I choose – yahoo!! I started some earlier today and I am loving it…. thanks Gmail!
And now for something I haven;t even seen until now…. multiple Gmail inboxes! My geeky senses are tinlging and my wife is giving me one of those quizzical looks that says “I’m not going to see much of you for a while, am I ?” Well she is, and because of these recentl changes to Gmail functionality I might be able to spend more time with her and my family and less in my email!

Why can’t gmail filter out spam ? the messages are all the same and I create a filter and still the junk rolls in. outlook can block spam based on a key word but gmail can’t.

Greetings JL, I have over 30 filters in my Gmail account and they work fine. Gmail Help has a page dedicated to setting up filters, you might want to read Gmail Help’s Using Filters.
If you can get Outlook filters to work, then Gmail should be relatively easy. As a webmaster receiving several hundred emails per week, one of the reasons I switched to Gmail was the superior Spam Filtering.
If the advice above doesn’t help you can post back here again and give me some details about the spams you are trying to stop and I’ll try to make a post that shows the exact steps to do what you want – get a cleaner inbox.

I have had gmail for over a year and suddenly a lot of my incoming mail is coming up with “subsystem delay” messages. I went in and checked who they were from and some of them were spam but most were from friends on my contact list!! Why is this happening?
What settings should I use to get rid of these “delay” messages?

Sharon, In reference to the “subsystem delay” messages, are these popup message within the Gmail system, or are you getting an email with that error?
