    I dont think I will want to trust a freeware to handle something as critical as my HDD! I agree that the windows defragger may not prove to be sufficient for all levels of defrag tasks considering its limitations. But as an alternative I would suggest using a reliable and well known third party program instead of freeware.

  2. Thanks for your comment, kaspil. Re-reading my post in light of your comment I decided to update it since I forgot to mention that the recommendations were from an IT Pro who performs PC maintenance and repair.

    Since all of them use the same defrag API’s Microsoft devised… the only difference between different defragmentation programs will be their strategies in rearranging files. File safety will be more or less the same as the default defragmenter.
