Dreamweaver 8 on Windows 7

Does Dreamweaver 8 work on Windows 7? Let’s see.
First off, I have to install Dreamweaver MX 2004, because my Dreamweaver 8 is an upgrade. The installation went off with no errors, so let’s run DW MX 2004 and see if it works.
DREAMWEAVER MX 2004 WORK ON Windows 7?
Well, it did for me in this short test. I installed, looked up my (very old) serial number and completed the install and ran DW MX 2004. I set up a website and made some minor edits to a couple of pages on the site and everything went smoothly.
Now its time to move onto DW8, I won’t bother with many settings in DW MX 2004 because Dreamweavwer 8 should change many of the options and settings so there’s really no reason to spend a lot of time getting the GUI the way I want, importing and adding snippets etc.
DREAMWEAVER 8 WORK ON Windows 7?
It almost in my worked on my initial test, but here’s what happened. When I have images on a page and I right click in Design View, and select Source File to change the image it won’t update. 
I can type the image name in the dialog box and that works. Oddly enough, in the Relative To dropdown box, if I change the value (Document or Site Root), then I can change the image through the dialog box – but that’s aggravating. Obviously more testing is needed. I didn’t check this functionality in DW MX 2004, so its possible the issue was there also.
Another interesting thing is that running the Program Compatibility wizard seems to do no good, although it tries to load Windows XP SP2 compatibility. Since the DW8 worked on an XP SP3 computer, I tried Windows XP SP3 compatibility, but just got a message that it didn’t work. Even trying to save its Program Compatibility’s “Try recommended settings” option fails with “Incompatible Application – Detected”.
DOES DREAMWEAVER 8 RUN ON WINDOWS 7?
Well, mostly up to this point it works, but clearly more testing will be needed. I guess its time for me to re-read Dreamweaver 8 and Windows 7 and try some of the suggestions.

Google Updates to Tasks and Makes Labs Searchable

New Features for Tasks
Google Tasks is taking on the top 5 requests. Google announced they will be addressing those top 5 in no specific order:
- Reminders and notifications
- Ability to create repeating tasks
- Visual distinction for overdue tasks
- Sharable task lists
- Tasks API and synchronization
The list above is in the order I’d like to see these changes to tasks occur.
Labs Now Searchable
With the many Gmail labs projects its inconvenient to find the one you want to turn on or off. Google has added a search feature to labs so you can easily find that lab project you want to active or deactivate. It seems in retrospect like an expected move that a search engine giant like Google would make – it just makes sense.
This new feature stacks enabled labs on top, and the disabled ones below. The search bar works like Google now, as you type you see only matching labs displayed (also listed with the enabled labs above the disabled labs).
Borderlands [Xbox360] Beginner’s Game Tips

These “beginner’s tips” are tips I picked up while playing and from load screen tips while playing during the first five or so hours of gameplay.
Free In-Game Tips. During the load screens watch for Borderlands tips. Some games have made load screen tips “white noise” but you should pay attention to these great tips, especially at the beginning before they get really repetetive.
Need More Ammo/Weapons To Sell/Money? After you quit and restart the game, all of the boxes you’ve opened and collected treasure from are reset.
Unlimited Range Shotguns. A load screen tip suggested using shotguns against Rakks, and I just found out that the shotguns have unlimited range! The spread of the pellets might render a shotgun less effective at range, but those pellets don’t ever stop until they hit something.
Run forever. That’s right, you can ruin forever unless something stops you like needing to go under something or coming to a dead-end.
Reload and Run. You can reload your weapon while you run.
Stop Skags in their tracks. Shoot them in their rear legs and they’ll stop running momentarily. Try over and over until the skag is done for.

Borderlands Xbox360 Initial Impressions

Borderlands for the Xbox360 by Gearbox Software definitely earns its ESRB Mature rating, its not a game for the kids. For adults this first person shooter has a nice twist, its also got elements of RPG play and character progression similar to Bioware’s Mass Effect. The two also have the following in common – lots and lots of guns to choose from, “treasure hunting” for health and ammo (ok, that’s kind of common to many video games). It feels at first blush it seems that Mass Effect’s storyline is much more detailed and inspiring, but we’ll see if Borderland’s storyline develops farther as gameplay progresses.
Borderlands pits you as a “good guy” on the “… harsh frontier planet Pandora in search of a mysterious Alien Vault legend.” [gearboxsoftware.com]. You have landed on the planet for treasure hunters, mercs and lowlifes, and you are looked to immediately to hopefully improve the town’s situation against the bad guys.
I don’t like the aiming during the game as its a bit “loose” as compared to some other games, but I’m very picky in this area. Its not that you can’t aim & shoot with good effect, it just seems a bit rough around the edges – maybe after my character levels up this will change.

How Do I Restore Deleted Contacts in Gmail?

In the past if you deleted contacts in Gmail they were lost permanently after a short time. No more, because now Gmail allows you to restore your contact list to an earlier date. This new feature allows you to undo deleting a contact, undo importing contact, or undo a contact list merge.
We’ve added a new feature to Google Contacts that allows you to revert your contact list and undo any mistakes made up to 30 days in the past. Let’s say you accidentally deleted a bunch of contacts or wiped the contact data from your Gmail account by mistake while syncing to another device. Visit Gmail’s Contacts section, select “Restore contacts” in the “More actions” menu, and choose the time you would like to revert to.
