SPOILER WARNING: CRYSIS 2: WALKTHROUGH for SUDDEN IMPACT (Part 2)
After the Ceph attacked and sunk the submarine, Alcatraz made his way out and up to the surface of the Hudson. Trying to catch his breath he and his team were trying to and assess losses, only to be attacked by the same Ceph ship that sunk the sub. The Ceph ship fired on him and his buddies and he heard screams and yelling as they were fired upon. Alcatraz was hit and his team mates seemed to be dying all around him. Slowly he was losing consciousness when he heard heavy gunfire on the Ceph ship. Ceph gun fire cracked through the air in response ripping into the nearby pavement. Moments later a suited figure approaches and and drags him off to safety …
Sudden Impact Walkthrough: Crysis 2, Mission 3
This is part 2 of the Mission 3: Sudden Impact Walkthrough, if you haven’t read it yet, you should begin with part 1.
Now you can re-surface from the drain, get behind the column behind the 50 cal gunner on the Humvee and take him out with your silenced Stealth Scarab. Recharge in cover then move back into the storm drain. The gunner is a higher profile kill more likely to be noticed by the other CELL soldiers since he’s up on top of the Humvee. If he’s discovered, stay in the storm drain until your stealth meter returns to normal, or at least close to it.
Next, how about getting rid of that pesky guy up on the rooftop to the east? His overwatch of the area from that raised elevation limits your options and increases your chance of being spotted. Move past the Humvee and jump up onto the orange scaffolding, and then up onto the roof. You will need to hide and recharge your energy a couple of times to do this, so choose your hiding spots well. Stay hidden until he turns his back to you, or move behind him and then take him out with a stealth kill where you can’t be seen. Now reverse the procedure to get back onto the ground and into the storm drain again where you can fully recharge and wait to see if his body will be discovered.
Sometimes you get lucky and can take out several CELL in mere moments without them raising an alarm and calling for reinforcements. You can take out the remaining CELL soldiers one or two at a time, so long as you are not directly seen or shot at. If a CELL soldier sees you or shoots at you, your position will be compromised and its time again to cloak and run for the storm drain and recharge. If you are seen, get cloaked as soon as possible and choose a hiding spot that’s not nearby. Then as CELL patrols the area you have recharged and can move to different spots to hide as they move, and take them out one or two at a time using stealth kills and your Stealth Scarab.
Two great locations to use in this area as fallback points to recharge are the stairwell in the building you started at, and in the storm drain which also allows you to move unseen from one side of the street corner to the other.
About those two Humvees at the SE end of the street, start with the one that is behind the other facing him so no one is behind you. You can actually jump up into the Humvee right next to the gunner while cloaked if you don’t land in his line of sight. Take him out and move behind one of the containers and recharge your energy, since his death will be noticed immediately. Carefully make your way into hiding and emerge when they stealth meter has returned to normal. This might mean a trip back to the other end of the street near the bus.
Next, so long as you take him out before he shoots back, you can take out the other Humvee gunner from the front. To do this make sure none of the patrols are behind you, then while cloaked edge up to the front of the Humvee and stand up. Aim carefully and fire off several rounds to make sure he doesn’t live to shoot back, then quickly duck back down, recharge and move away. Take care of the remnants of the patrols in these 2 areas by the 3 Humvees, then you are ready to move on to the crash site.
As you approach the crash site the CELL helicopter will fly off and you get a new objective … examine the alien escape pods and look for tissue samples. But getting to the escape pods unnoticed is not easy. Fortunately there are areas beside and in between each escape pod where you can hide and recharge. Near the closer pods off to the left (north) is a boarded up area with stairs, you can hide behind the wood, if you are careful about the roving patrols.
On the way to the other pod with the crater on your right, look to the left and you will see a boarded area you can hide behind and recharge. When you can walk up to the escape pod with the cloak on and scan it. Then continue on toward the next pod, and nearby you will see the NY Deli, where you can hide and recharge. After recharging, scan the second pod while cloaked.
You can also use the NY Deli as a fall back hiding spot. Other good fall back hiding spots can behind the Humvee near the crash site behind the electrical box, behind the building in front of the Humvee (after you take out the gunner) and near the last 2 Humvees you passed before entering the crash site (double-check to make sure new patrols aren’t in the area before you uncloak. There’s a burning truck you can hide behind and a container right next to the 2 Humvees with a little ammo (a Scarab rifle) and good cover.
Above are the Ceph escape pods. The arrow on the left points out where the crater is located. The arrow on the right points to the NY Deli sign, a good fall back hiding spot.
After scanning both escape pods your objective moves deeper to the actual crash site itself (see the objective marker), but you’ll probably want to thin out the patrols before descending, and without being seen. You can take out the Humvee gunner from behind when no one is watching, just use your silencer and just in case fall back to the electrical boxes or cement column behind the Humvee. If you attract attention wait till things cool down, and if needed move to a second spot to avoid patrols.
Move to the top of the building parking garage structure that’s directly over the crash site on the edge of the crash site by the Humvee. See the image below of the parking garage structure, there’s a great hiding spot to the left and in cover of the cement stairs. There’s also a nice pile of rubble you can stand on to jump up to the roof. From there, get behind the low vents on the roof to recharge. When you can take out the CELL soldier on the far side of the crater near the 1st escape pod you checked, and stay behind the vents recharging, then you can jump back down to ground level.
