COD MW3 Killstreaks & Strike Packages
What Are Killstreaks in MW3 Multiplayer?
As the word insinuates, it is about a streak of kills. Depending upon the type of Strike Package you select in your custom loadout killstreaks stack up differently. For the offensive-oriented Assault Strike packages your kills are added up until you die, at which point your killstreak number is reset to 0. For the more defensive Support Strike packages your kills are not reset to zero until the end of the match. If you make 12 kills during a match/round then your killstreak is 12 and does not matter if you die 0, 2, 6, 12 or any number of times. The Specialist Strike package killstreak does not reset as you are rewarded at 2 kills, 4 kills, 6 kills and 8 kills, regardless of how many times you die.
NOTE: You can only choose Assault, OR Support OR Specialist strike packages – not all of them.
Assault Strike Package
Chain your kills to earn up to 3 different assault strike packages. After you’ve earned the last strike package, you start back over at the first. Note that while the first two strike packages apply their kills toward your next strike package, the third (last) strike package’s kills do NOT count toward the next. So, if you select Predator Missile/Precision Air Strike/Attack Helicopter, the kills from Predator Missile count toward Precision Air Strike. Then any kills from Precision Air Strike count toward Attack Helicopter. But the kills from the Attack Helicopter do not count toward Predator Missile – you need to get those kills yourself.
Support Strike Package
Earn kills regardless of your number of deaths for your Support Strike packages. So long as you earn the number of required kills before the end of the match, you are awarded the Support packages of your choosing.
Specialist Strike Package
Specialist strike packages also are awarded when you the requisite number of kills. You are rewarded your chosen perks at 2, 4 and 6 kills. At 8 kills all perks are unlocked plus the following proficiencies: Impact, Speed, Stability, Focus, Kick, Range and Melee.
The Specialist Strike Package resets your Perks back to base Perks for your custom loadout each time you die. So if you have chosen Blind Eye, Sleight of Hand and Quickdraw and you get 8 kills you’ve now got all 3 of your perks, plus you’ve unlocked ALL Perks plus some proficiencies. When you die you reset back to your base Perks for that custom loadout and have to start earning the Specialist Perks you’ve chosen again. So after 2 kills (or 1 if you are using the tier 2 perk Hardline) you get Blind eye again. After 3 kills if you die you are again reset back to your base Perks.
